ICSTL’S “ONE HEART FAST!”
A Season of Seeking: Our 5-Day Church-Wide Fast
Welcome to the One Heart Fast Journey, Impact Church St. Louis!
Church, as we step into this season together, we believe that Impact Church St. Louis is called not just to be a community that gathers, but a people who move in the power and presence of God. Starting the week of Jan 26th – 30th, we are setting aside five intentional days to quiet the noise of the world and tune our hearts to the frequency of Heaven through our “One Heart Toward God” Unity Fast. Whether you are joining us from your home, workplace, out of town, or right here in the St. Louis Metro area, know that you are part of a collective movement of faith. We aren’t just giving things up; we are making room for God to do a new thing in our families, our city, and our future. Let’s press in with expectancy, believing that as we seek Him, we will see a lasting impact that reaches far beyond these five days!
Beginning January 26th through January 30th, we will embark on this 5-day journey together.
Our goal is not simply to abstain from food or media, but to feast on the Word of God. We have designed a Unity Fast where we will move through different biblical sacrifices together each day:
Day 1 (Monday): The Media Fast (Stillness & Listening)
Day 2 (Tuesday): The Daniel Fast (Clarity & Discipline)
Day 3 (Wednesday): The Daylight Fast (Family & Guidance)
Day 4 (Thursday): The Service Fast (Outreach & Justice)
Day 5 (Friday): The Total Focus (Breakthrough & Restoration)
We are expectant that as we humble ourselves as one body, God will hear from heaven and move in our homes and throughout Cahokia/St. Louis/Metro Area in a powerful way.
Join us as we seek His face together. We will conclude our fast with a Break-the-Fast Celebration on January 30th at 11:59pm.
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Ron A. Young and The Leadership Team of Impact Church St. Louis

The Sacrifice: Abstain from social media, television, news, and entertainment.
The Scripture: Psalm 46:10 — “Be still, and know that I am God.”
The Purpose: To quiet the noise of the world so we can hear God’s voice clearly for the week ahead.
Prayer Focus: “Lord, help me to hear You above the noise. I give you my attention today.”
- Day 2: The Daniel Fast (Choice Foods)
The Sacrifice: Abstain from meats, sweets, and breads. Eat only fruits, vegetables, and nuts.
The Scripture: Daniel 10:3 — “I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth…”
The Purpose: To discipline the body and seek spiritual clarity and breakthrough.
Prayer Focus: “Father, give me the strength to choose Your will over my cravings. Give our church spiritual wisdom.”
- Day 3: The Daylight Fast (Sunup to Sundown)
The Sacrifice: No food from sunrise until sunset (Water only). Eat a humble meal after dark.
The Scripture: Ezra 8:21 — “Then I proclaimed a fast… to seek from Him the right way for us and our little ones.”
The Purpose: To humble ourselves and pray specifically for our children and the next generation.
Prayer Focus: “God, we seek the ‘right way’ for our families. Protect our children and guide our paths.”
- Day 4: The Service Fast (Service & Justice)
The Sacrifice: Fast one meal (Lunch or Dinner) and spend that time/money serving someone else.
The Scripture: Isaiah 58:6-7 — “Is this not the fast that I have chosen… to share your bread with the hungry?”
The Purpose: To turn our hearts outward and break the chains of selfishness.
Prayer Focus: “Lord, show me who is hurting in my community. Use me to break the heavy burdens of others.”
- Day 5: The Total Focus Fast (Total Focus)
The Sacrifice: A total fast from food (liquids only) for 24 hours (or your strongest personal sacrifice).
The Scripture: Nehemiah 1:4 — “I sat down and wept, and mourned for many days; I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven.”
The Purpose: Rebuilding what is broken and celebrating God’s restoration.
Prayer Focus: “God, restore what has been lost. Rebuild the walls of our lives and our church.”

My Personal Prayer Need
During these 5 days, I am specifically asking God for:
Name: _________________________________ Date: _______________
”The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” (James 5:16)
How We Will Use This Card in Service:
The “Commitment Moment”: During the Sunday service, before the fast begins, we will have the ushers pass these out as people enter the sanctuary.
The Altar Call: After the sermon, you will be invited to come forward to lay your prayer card on the altar (or in a basket) as a sign of surrender.
The “Take-Home” Copy: Snap a photo of their card before turning it in so they have a reminder on your phone.
Intercessory Prayer Team:
Your prayer card will be forwarded to our prayer team. Tina or Garfield Duckett will pray over the “Personal Prayer Needs” written on the cards throughout the fasting period. The goal is to carry the burden together.
PRACTICAL FASTING TIPS
Hydrate: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to avoid headaches.
Focus on the “Why”: When you feel a hunger pang, let it be a “prayer bell” that reminds you to talk to God.
Don’t Legalize It: If you accidentally eat something not on the list, don’t quit! Just pray and keep going. It’s about the heart, not the stomach.
Social Fasting: If you have health issues that prevent a food fast, consider fasting from Social Media, TV, or News and using that time for the Daily Prayer Points.
“The 3-3-3 Rule”
Stay engaged by following the 3-3-3 Rule each day:
3 Minutes of Silence: Listening for God’s voice before starting.
3 Minutes of Scripture: Reading the daily verse slowly.
3 Minutes of Intercession: Praying specifically for the daily theme.
